RASC News Agency: The family members of Baharah Karimi, a female protester who was recently detained by the Taliban, have announced her release from the custody of the Taliban group. Mohammad Karimi, the brother of Bahareh Karimi, stated to the media on Thursday night, November 23rd, that the Taliban group had detained her due to a misunderstanding and released her again at 5:30 pm on Monday of this week. According to Mohammad Karimi, the Taliban group had released her sister with great difficulty on bail, as they had imprisoned Baharah on the false charge. However, Mr. Karimi did not provide further details regarding the charge against his sister.
Meanwhile, according to a message posted on social media by Soheila Akbari, Karimi’s professor, Mrs. Karimi has been released and does not want her news to be spread anymore, as she is afraid of being harmed and re-arrested again. In this communication, it is asserted that she endured more than a month of incarceration due to a misunderstanding and was not connected to the women’s protest movements. This revelation follows earlier reports wherein sources informed the media of the Taliban’s detention of Baharah Karimi some time ago, during which she spent 37 days confined within the group’s prisons.
It is of significance to note that members of the Taliban have historically apprehended, subjected to torture, and fatally harmed women for various reasons, particularly in response to their protests against the restrictive policies imposed on women by this group. It is essential to highlight that presently, a minimum of five women remains detained by the Taliban. Despite persistent appeals from global authorities and human rights organizations urging the group to release these women, no information regarding their fate has emerged.
