RASC News Agency: Local officials of the Taliban group in charge of information and culture in Herat province have recently stated that over 70 foreign tourists have visited the province in the past two weeks. Mawlawi Rahmatullah Mohammadi, the tourism officer of the Taliban’s information and culture department in Herat province, stated to the media yesterday November 18th, that these tourists are from 15 different countries and have traveled to this province over the past two weeks.

He added that from the beginning of this year until now, 400 foreign tourists have visited Herat and explored its historical sites. According to this Taliban official, they are seeking to provide facilities for tourists in the Information and Culture Department of Herat province in order to boost the tourism industry in the country, especially in Herat province.

It should be noted that Herat is one of the ancient provinces of the country, with over 800 valuable historical sites from various periods, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists every year. However, it is worth mentioning that the tourism industry has significantly declined after the Taliban’s takeover, due to various reasons including security challenges and the violent behavior of this group.

Nevertheless, several countries have previously advised their citizens to refrain from traveling to Afghanistan, citing reasons such as the existing insecurity under the Taliban’s control. It is important to note that, according to reports, since the Taliban took control of the country, they have paid little attention to the restoration of historical sites, and some of these sites are at risk of destruction in certain provinces.
