RASC News Agency: The United Nations Security Council’s sanctions monitoring team has released its latest report, publicly naming 61 high-ranking members of the Taliban who have been sanctioned. The UN report, published on Monday, July 8, includes the names of 35 members of the Taliban cabinet and senior officials of the group.
Among those listed are Mullah Mohammad Hassan, Prime Minister of the Taliban; Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Economic Minister; Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Administrative Minister; Abdul Kabir, Deputy Political Minister; Amir Khan Muttaqi, Foreign Minister; and Sirajuddin Haqqani, Interior Minister. The list also includes Abdul Haq Wasiq, Head of Taliban Intelligence; Noor Mohammad Saqib, Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs; Khairullah Khairkhwa, Minister of Information and Culture; Noorullah Noori, Minister of Borders, Tribes, and Ethnicities; and Hamidullah Akhund, Minister of Transport.
Additionally, the sanctioned cabinet members include Din Mohammad Hanif, Minister of Economy; Mohammad Isa Thani, Minister of Public Works; Najibullah Haqqani, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; Hamdullah Nomani, Minister of Urban Development and Housing; Abdul Latif Mansoor, Minister of Energy and Water; and Hidayatullah Badri, Minister of Mines and Petroleum.
Other notable figures on the list are Nooruddin Turabi, Head of the Taliban’s Natural Disaster Management Authority; Shahabuddin Delawar, Head of the Red Crescent; Mohammad Zahid, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs; Qudratullah Jamal, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry; Jan Mohammad Madani, Financial Advisor to Mullah Hibatullah; and Sayed Ghayasuddin Agha and Abdul Wali Siddiqui, Heads of the Administrative Department.
The report also identifies several members of the Haqqani Network, including Khalil-ur-Rehman Haqqani, Minister of Refugees, and Yahya Haqqani, brother of Sirajuddin Haqqani, as other sanctioned officials within the network. Noor Ahmad Agha, Head of the Taliban’s Central Bank, is also listed, along with several other heads of Taliban departments included in the UN sanctions list.
The UN report states that these individuals are prohibited from traveling outside Afghanistan without Security Council authorization and that their overseas assets have been frozen. This list of sanctioned Taliban members is released amidst reports that several Taliban officials have traveled abroad without obtaining Security Council authorization.
