RASC News Agency: Amidst an ongoing surge of arbitrary detentions orchestrated by individuals affiliated with the Taliban, reports from Daykundi underscore the apprehension of Mohammad Hussain Dadgar, a social activist, by the Taliban in this province. Insights reveal that the Taliban’s intelligence forces apprehended Dadgar on Thursday, November 30, citing his collaboration in organizing a session of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in Nili, the central office of the UN organization in Afghanistan.

Elaborating on intelligence sources, the Taliban’s operatives summoned and subsequently detained Mohammad Hussain Dadgar, who serves as the head of the Youth Committee and is responsible for the Institute of Technical and Vocational Education in the center of Daykundi. This incident unfolded around 11:00 AM, just preceding yesterday. Sources indicate that UNAMA had slated a session yesterday, emphasizing “raising awareness of the activities of United Nations agencies in Afghanistan,” with the participation of both men and women in the city of Nili.

Adding to the information, sources explain that the Taliban detained Mr. Dadgar due to his involvement in organizing the UNAMA session and coordinating the participation of certain individuals. Subsequent to his detention, the UNAMA session has been disrupted. It is noteworthy that local Taliban officials in Daykundi have yet to furnish any information regarding the arrest of Mr. Dadgar. This transpires as media outlets receive daily reports of individuals being detained by the Taliban, with the group consistently refraining from divulging any information to the public.

Significantly, over their two-year rule in Afghanistan, the Taliban persistently detained not only former military personnel but also civil activists, advocates for women’s rights, and the youth across various provinces in the country. It is imperative to note that, as per received reports, this group engages in inappropriate conduct toward detainees in prisons, subjecting them to the brink of death through physical abuse and torture.
