RASC News Agency: In the ongoing discussions between regional and international officials regarding the situation in Afghanistan, Iran and India have recently announced their intention to form a regional contact group. Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the special envoy of the President of Iran to Afghanistan, revealed this development in a message on social media on Sunday, November 26th. During a meeting with J.B Singh, the regional director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, they discussed the formation of the contact group with the aim of addressing political and economic issues in Afghanistan and promoting stability and reconstruction.

Emphasizing the significance of the regional contact group, the Iranian representative highlighted the importance of establishing stability in Afghanistan. Additionally, the discussions also focused on the special role of Chabahar Port in fostering economic relations with Afghanistan. While Hassan Kazemi Qomi did not provide further details about the formation of the contact group, it is believed that this initiative underscores the Islamic Republic’s commitment to involving neighboring countries in Afghanistan’s affairs.

It is worth noting that the current situation in Afghanistan, with the Taliban in control, has been a central topic of discussion in various meetings and forums. Recognizing the gravity of the crisis, the President of Uzbekistan also expressed his concern and stressed that Afghanistan should not be left to face its challenges alone. He emphasized the importance of the international community’s support for Afghanistan, as the country plays a crucial role in maintaining regional stability. The formation of the regional contact group by Iran and India reflects a collective effort to address the complex situation in Afghanistan and work towards a more stable future for the country.
