RASC News Agency: In response to the continuation of human rights crimes by the Taliban group, more than 60 domestic and foreign civil and human rights organizations sent a letter to the United Nations Human Rights Council.
In the letter they sent to the United Nations Human Rights Council on September 4, these institutions demanded the creation of an independent mechanism to investigate crimes and human rights violations by the Taliban group in Afghanistan.
They asked this council to document the crimes of the Taliban group.
These organizations have asked the UN Human Rights Council to extend the mission of Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Afghanistan.
In the letter of these organizations, the member states of the United Nations are asked to ensure the reports of the special rapporteur of this council regarding discrimination against women and other cases of human rights violations by the Taliban group.
In this letter, the increase in targeted killings, executions, tortures and mistreatment of the people by the Taliban group is also known as an example of the group’s crimes against humanity, as well as arbitrary arrests of human rights defenders, journalists and artists by the Taliban, forced migration and suppression of minorities, killing of government officials. The former, especially the former national security forces, are also mentioned.
These institutions said that due to the lack of independence of the judicial system in Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban group, they consider it important to form an independent investigative committee to reduce violence and prevent further violations of human rights in Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban group. This is despite the fact that not long ago Amnesty International also said in a report that the Taliban group committed war crimes in Panjshir province.
