RASC News Agency: The International Organization for Migration has confirmed that 79% of Afghanistani people do not have access to enough water for drinking, cooking, bathing and washing.

According to this institution, people’s lack of access to sufficient water indicates that there is a water and sanitation crisis throughout Afghanistan.

The International Organization for Migration on Wednesday, August 16, in an article published on X (Twitter), said that in 2022, 160 thousand people in Afghanistan have been provided services in the field of access to drinking water and sanitation by this organization.

This institution added that in 2023, it needs 33 million dollars of budget to provide access to drinking water and provide health services to 2.3 million tons.

The International Organization for Migration has said that time is gradually running out due to the water and sanitation crisis in Afghanistan.

This is despite the fact that reports of complaints from citizens of different provinces about severe drought and lack of access to drinking water have been published this year.

A few months ago, pictures were published from the Barchi plain in the west of Kabul, which showed dozens of people standing in line to get drinking water from a well.

Meanwhile, not long ago, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) announced that Afghanistan is currently experiencing severe drought for three consecutive years, which has affected parts of the country’s people’s lives.

Based on the statistics of this institution, Afghanistan is in the fourth place among the ten countries that are facing severe consequences of climate change.
