The Taliban blocked the shops that refused to pay the bribe

RASC: Sources in Balkh province say that the municipality of the Taliban group blocked two large food stores in this province under various pretexts.

According to the sources, these two stores, “Market Kefait” and “Market Niaz” are among the largest grocery stores in Balkh, which were blocked by the Taliban today, Sunday, May 7.

The Taliban group has announced the reason for closing these two stores due to high prices, the presence of outdated goods, the lack of weight on the scales and the violation of the municipality’s price list for three days.

But the managers of these stores said that the reason for closing their stores was that they could not find the money that was requested from them by the urban supervision commission of the Taliban group, and they could not afford to pay it.

In recent days, the Taliban group has illegally collected money from merchants, shops and cart drivers in a number of provinces of the country, including Kabul. In case of non-payment, their shops have been blocked or destroyed.
