RASC News Agency: Local sources from Ghor province report that Mullah Hamidi Shamragh, a bodyguard for the Taliban governor in Ghor, was killed during an attempted sexual assault on a woman. On Tuesday, June 11, sources informed the media that the incident occurred the previous day in the Mohajerin neighborhood of Firozkoh, the provincial capital of Ghor. The woman was also killed in the ensuing gunfire.
According to the sources, Mullah Hamidi Shamragh, a resident of Chahar Sada district in Ghor, was a close associate and bodyguard of Mullah Ahmad Shah Din Dost, the Taliban governor of Ghor. The sources added that the woman’s husband shot both individuals around 1 p.m. on Monday. The attacker has reportedly been detained.
Taliban officials have yet to comment on the incident. Similar occurrences have been reported in other provinces previously. In a related incident last year, a Taliban member named Mullah Quddus killed a woman in the Sarband Saadsiyah village of Firozkoh after she resisted his attempt to sexually assault her.
Over the nearly three years of Taliban rule, numerous reports of sexual assaults by Taliban members have surfaced. Despite these reports, the Taliban have not prosecuted any individuals accused of such crimes. Meanwhile, the Taliban frequently publicly flog citizens in various provinces on charges of moral corruption, actions that have drawn widespread condemnation.
