RASC News Agency: In continuation of the increasing restrictions of the Taliban group on the media and women, this group in Helmand province has ordered the local media of this province not to broadcast women’s voices under any circumstances.

Local sources in Helmand say that this order has been in effect since the beginning of August in this province and no local media has the right to broadcast a woman’s voice under any circumstances.

According to the sources, the Taliban group has even banned the broadcasting of women’s voices in commercial and health advertisements.

Nevertheless, some institutions supporting the media have expressed concern about this restriction of the Taliban group.

According to this order of the Taliban group, they have accused this group of discrimination and violation of women’s rights and media freedom.

According to them, banning the publication of advertisements, which are mostly voiced by women, is the most important source of income for the media and will bring down Helmand’s local media.

Meanwhile, the Taliban group has imposed serious restrictions on the activities of women in the media since they took over the country, and in a number of provinces, women do not have the right to work in the media.

It should be noted that previously, in its latest report on the situation of media and journalists in Afghanistan, Reporters Without Borders said that as a result of the restrictions imposed by the Taliban on the media from August 15, 2021 until now, 80% of female journalists in Afghanistan are forced decided to quit their jobs.

However, the Committee to Protect Journalists also expressed concern about the media situation and the increasing repression of journalists by the Taliban group and said that this behavior of the Taliban group isolates Afghanistan’s media and journalists from other countries.
