United Nations Accused of Collusion with the Taliban in Oppression and Corruption

RASC News Agency: The Diplomat magazine has criticized the exclusion of Afghanistani women representatives from the third Doha meeting, asserting that by inviting the Taliban, the United Nations has lost its respect and credibility among the Afghanistani people, especially women and girls. In a report published on Sunday, July 7, the magazine claims that by excluding women from this meeting, the UN has become complicit with the Taliban in the oppression of women, secrecy, and corruption.

The report suggests that the United Nations has failed in Afghanistan and has not made the right decisions for the future of the Afghanistani people. The magazine states, “Throughout various stages of the conflict in Afghanistan, the UN not only failed to prevent these conflicts but also exacerbated the existing disputes through its mediation efforts.” The third Doha meeting to discuss the situation in Afghanistan, with the participation of international representatives and the Taliban, was held over two days at the end of June and the beginning of July in Doha, Qatar.

The exclusion of women from this meeting and the invitation of the Taliban by the UN have sparked widespread reactions. Many protesting women have called for a boycott of the event. Heather Barr, the Associate Director of the Women’s Rights Division at Human Rights Watch, also criticized the exclusion of women from this meeting, calling the UN’s decision “shameful” in a post on the social network X.
