RASC News Agency: Heather Barr, the chief advocate for women’s rights at the United Nations Human Rights Watch, recently urged member countries of the United Nations Security Council to cease closed-door sessions concerning Afghanistan. Barr, the chief advocate for women’s rights at the United Nations Human Rights Watch, raised this issue on Monday, Feb 26, through a message on the social media platform X.
She reiterated her criticism of the convening of these sessions and noted that he had previously censured the United Nations for holding closed-door sessions on Afghanistan. Taking into account the plight of women and girls under the Taliban’s regime in Afghanistan, he emphasized, “Afghanistanis, particularly women and girls who are victims of Taliban attacks, deserve to be informed about the discussions and decisions made in these sessions.”
The closed-door session of the United Nations Security Council on Afghanistan, held in Geneva on Monday, Feb 26, concluded without a definitive outcome.
