RASC: With the repressions and restrictions imposed by the Taliban group on Afghanistani women, Baroness Helena Kennedy, a member of the House of Lords and one of the British human rights experts, says that the situation of Afghanistani women is very sad.
Helena Kennedy told the British Metro newspaper on Sunday, June 25, that she sees very heartbreaking messages from Afghanistani women every day.
Kennedy had also helped Afghanistani refugees before, adding: “There are still women who are asking me for help at all hours by sending the saddest and most terrifying messages.”
She says that she regrets that they cannot make it possible for these women to get British visas from Afghanistan so that they do not have to go to Pakistan.
Helena Kennedy has also criticized the lack of legal opportunities for people at risk to reach the UK.
She adds that this is why many of the asylum seekers who plan to reach Britain by small boats through the English Channel are Afghanistani and even former colleagues of this country.
Helena stated: “Sometimes they are Afghanistanis who worked for us, sometimes they are Afghanistanis from a special minority called Hazara who are slaughtered as soon as the Taliban group looks at them.”
According to published information, in 2022, more than 8,600 Afghanistani have arrived in Britain by boat and illegally through the English Channel.
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Rishi Sonak announced in March that anyone who enters Britain illegally, including through the English Channel, could not stay in the country.
