RASC News Agency: The Ministry of Education of the Taliban group announced on Thursday, January 18th, that modern science has not been eradicated from the new school curriculum. Instead, it has been integrated into educational themes in harmony with national and Islamic culture. The ministry emphasizes actively working on modifying the curriculum to incorporate the latest advancements in modern science, with the 6th-grade curriculum already completed.
Moreover, the Taliban group asserts that even the educational curriculum of religious schools is being prepared in alignment with the latest achievements in contemporary sciences. They affirm that these reforms do not marginalize contemporary sciences from the new curriculum, contrary to citizens’ claims. Mansoor Ahmad Hamza, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, previously declared that the curriculum changes for schools in Afghanistan, up to the sixth grade, have been finalized. According to Hamza, any content deemed “against Sharia and Afghanistan culture” has been removed from the curriculum by the Taliban group.
However, it is crucial to note that despite these claims, girls above the sixth grade have been unable to attend school for over two years due to the Taliban group’s review of school subjects. This situation raises concerns about the accessibility of education for girls in Afghanistan and the impact of the Taliban’s curriculum changes on their educational opportunities.
