RASC News Agency: Abdulqahar Balkhi, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has announced that Ruslan Edelgeriyev, the advisor and special representative of the Russian president for the regional sector, held a meeting with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting head of the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to a statement released by Balkhi on social media, this meeting occurred yesterday afternoon, on Feb 10.
During the meeting, Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting head of the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requested Russia to provide training for the staff of environmental and forestry departments under Taliban control. Bilateral relations, economic cooperation, collaboration on climate change, and methods to enhance diplomatic ties between the Taliban and the Russian Federation were among the topics deliberated by the two parties. In this session, Amir Khan Muttaqi underscored the importance of expanding and bolstering diplomatic relations between the Taliban and Russia. He emphasized that substantial advancements could be achieved across various sectors through elevated relations between the two countries.
It is noteworthy that Afghanistan ranks among the ten countries severely susceptible to the impacts of climate change and natural disasters. For the third consecutive solar year, Afghanistan has endured severe drought conditions. United Nations agencies have repeatedly alerted to the detrimental effects of climate change on the lives of Afghanistani citizens, advocating for global assistance to mitigate the repercussions of climate change in the nation.
