RASC: Sources in Nuristan say that unknown gunmen killed a local singer named Muslim Nuristani along with his brother.

According to the source, these two brothers were shot yesterday (Monday, June 5) near their house in Mandol district.

One of the local residents says: “Muslim Nuristani, who was a local singer and often participated in people’s celebrations, was killed yesterday in an armed attack, along with his brother, near their home.”

According to him, Muslim Nuristani had migrated to Pakistan after seeing the effectiveness of the Taliban. But after some time he returned to the country and lived a normal life in Mandol district.

Saifuddin Laton, the spokesperson of the Taliban governor in Nuristan, confirms the killing of this local singer and says that an investigation has been started.

The motive behind Moslem Nooristani’s murder is still unclear.

After gaining power, the Taliban banned singing and listening to music, which led to many singers and artists leaving the country or giving up the arts.
