RASC News Agency: Local informants from western Afghanistan disclose that high-ranking Taliban officials travel to Kandahar Province quarterly to report to Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the group’s leader, presenting their regional assessments. A source from Herat Province, preferring anonymity, relayed to RASC News Agency on Tuesday, May 28th, that senior Taliban officials, comprising governors, security commanders, and other key figures, journey to Kandahar Province for financial audits.

The source elaborated, “Prominent Taliban figures across western Afghanistan, encompassing Herat, Farah, Ghor, and Badghis provinces, are mandated to settle their financial records with Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the clandestine leader in Kandahar Province, fostering trust between both parties.” Moreover, another undisclosed source from Farah Province informed RASC that to date, there have been no interactions or meetings between senior Taliban officials and Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the group’s leader.

This source contends that the Taliban, to sustain their dominance, are compelled to perpetuate falsehoods. Conversely, Farooq Habibi, a well-informed individual in western Afghanistan, asserts that the Taliban’s itinerary remains obscure, and their ultimate destination is ambiguous. He further remarked that covert gatherings of Taliban officials with their leader in Kandahar Province lack significance and neglect the populace’s concerns.

He opined that the Taliban currently project a facade of fulfilling the people’s needs, portraying an illusion of having resolved all issues seamlessly. The informant emphasized that as long as the Taliban persist in this charade, the adverse repercussions will ensnare the nation’s populace.

Previously, RASC News Agency published a report on the procurement and trading of government positions by senior Taliban officials in western Afghanistan, indicating recent transactions conducted in US dollars rather than kabuli rupees.
