General Jalal Yaftali: A Call for a Historic Resistance to Liberate Badakhshan from Taliban Occupation

RASC News Agency: In a forceful and deeply resonant statement posted on his official Facebook page, General Jalaluddin Yaftali a respected former military commander and veteran of Afghanistan’s defense forces has issued a clarion call to the people of Badakhshan, urging both civilians and former servicemen to prepare for what he described as a “defining and historic battle” against the Taliban’s despotic rule. General Yaftali denounced the Taliban as a tribal militia masquerading under the banner of Islam while systematically dismantling the nation’s pluralistic and spiritual foundations. He accused the group of perpetuating a regime grounded in ethnic discrimination, religious distortion, and political subjugation one that not only violates the principles of Islamic justice but undermines the very notion of Afghanistani nationhood.

“The Taliban have manipulated the sacred name of Islam to justify repression, exclusion, and cruelty,” Yaftali declared. “Their tyranny has targeted all ethnic groups, and even free-minded Pashtun citizens have not been spared their vengeance. This is not governance it is occupation cloaked in theology.” Yaftali detailed the Taliban’s long list of abuses in Badakhshan and other northern provinces: the forced displacement of indigenous communities; the systematic persecution and silencing of religious scholars; the closure of schools and universities; the illegal seizure of mineral resources and ancestral lands; and the imposition of non-local Taliban officials who lack any cultural or historical connection to the region. These actions, he said, constitute nothing less than a campaign of “humiliation and colonization” against the people of Badakhshan.

Citing verses from the Qur’an, General Yaftali framed resistance to the Taliban not merely as a political necessity, but as a divine obligation. “This is no ordinary conflict,” he stated. “This is a moral and spiritual struggle a sacred duty to liberate our homeland from tyranny, to restore justice, and to reclaim our dignity as a people.” In a poignant message to the disillusioned youth of Badakhshan who have been coerced or deceived into joining the Taliban’s ranks, Yaftali offered a path to redemption: “You are the sons of this soil. When liberation comes as it inevitably will no retribution awaits you. You will be welcomed back by your people, for this struggle is not one of vengeance, but of national awakening.”

General Yaftali emphasized that the aim of this resistance is not merely the defense of territory, but the preservation of faith, national identity, and universal justice. “We are fighting not just for land, but for the soul of our nation for an Afghanistan where dignity, learning, and freedom can flourish once more.” He concluded his message with a verse from the revered poet Ustad Khalilullah Khalili, symbolizing hope, unity, and resilience. With that, he promised that the narrative of Badakhshan’s future will not be written in the ink of Taliban oppression, but in the enduring language of resistance, faith, and human dignity. As the Taliban regime tightens its grip on Afghanistan through fear, censorship, and coercion, voices like General Yaftali’s emerge as beacons of moral clarity reminding the world that the spirit of resistance still breathes in the mountains of Badakhshan, and that Afghanistan’s soul cannot be extinguished by the boots of tyranny.
