RASC News Agency: Local sources in Ghor report the killing of three Taliban members by “unknown assailants” within the province. According to these sources, the attack occurred around 11:00 AM today Saturday, October 12, in the Shah Tegh region, along the route connecting the districts of Chaharsada, Murghab, and Firozkoh.
The sources revealed that two Taliban members, identified as Najibullah and Mohammad Tahir, who were traveling from Chaharsada towards Firozkoh, were ambushed and killed by the unknown gunmen. Additionally, the sources noted that moments later, another Taliban fighter, traveling from Murghab to Firozkoh, arrived at the scene where his fellow fighters had been killed. Upon engaging with the unidentified attackers, he too was killed during the skirmish.
Thus far, local Taliban authorities in Ghor have refrained from commenting on the incident. This follows previous reports of Taliban fighters being killed by unidentified gunmen in Ghor. Last month, another Taliban member was assassinated while returning home. It is important to note that over the past year, numerous Taliban members have been targeted and killed or injured in attacks across various regions and transit routes. While the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan and the Freedom Front have previously claimed responsibility for such assaults, no group has yet taken responsibility for this latest incident.
In recent months, anti-Taliban military fronts have escalated their attacks on Taliban forces across multiple provinces. Just last week, the National Resistance Front announced an attack on Taliban forces in Kabul.
