RASC News Agency:Local sources in Maidan Wardak province have reported a harrowing incident that once again highlights the Taliban’s growing brutality across Afghanistan. According to reports, Taliban fighters opened fire on a young man from Panjshir province, executing him in cold blood. The victim, identified as Farhad, was a 25-year-old resident of Sheikhan village in Rokha district of Panjshir. The incident occurred on Sunday, May 4, when Farhad, driven by economic despair and chronic unemployment, attempted to migrate illegally to Iran. He was reportedly traveling along the Kabul Maidan Wardak highway when Taliban militants stopped the vehicle he was in, pulled him out, and shot him without warning.
According to sources close to the victim, Farhad had previously been deported from Iran and was once again trying to reach the country in search of work. His journey, like that of many other young Afghanistanis, was born of desperation amid the humanitarian and economic collapse gripping the country under Taliban rule. Incidents of extrajudicial killings have become increasingly common in recent years, particularly targeting individuals from resistance-prone areas such as Panjshir. Over the past four years, reports of arbitrary arrests, disappearances, and executions by the Taliban have surged indicating a disturbing pattern of ethnopolitical repression.
This most recent killing has once again intensified concerns over the worsening human rights crisis in Afghanistan. Analysts warn that, in the absence of independent judicial oversight and international accountability, such acts of violence may continue to escalate. The execution of Farhad serves as yet another grim reminder of the Taliban’s culture of impunity and disregard for the sanctity of human life. It underscores the urgent need for global pressure on the regime to halt its campaign of terror against civilians particularly those from historically marginalized and resistance-linked regions.
