RASC News Agency: The Ministry of Public Works spokesperson for the Taliban group, Mohammad Ashraf Haq Shenas, recently made an announcement on November 30th regarding the reopening of the Salang highway. According to Haq Shenas, the concreting work on the highway has been completed. However, he emphasized that, from a technical perspective, it would take at least 28 days before the road was ready for transportation.
Contrary to Haq Shenas’ statement, the governor of the Taliban group in Parwan declared that the highway would be accessible for vehicles in just two weeks. Haq Shenas did not acknowledge the governor’s remarks and dismissed the rumors circulating on social media about the reopening of the Salang highway as baseless. It is important to note that the Taliban group initially closed the highway for reconstruction on September 10th. As a result, drivers and passengers have been using alternative routes, leading to daily reports of complaints and concerns about traffic incidents caused by the lack of standards on these alternative roads.
The use of alternative routes has proven to be problematic due to the absence of proper standards. This has resulted in frequent traffic incidents, causing significant worry among both drivers and passengers. The lack of a safe and reliable transportation option has been a cause for concern, and the reopening of the Salang Highway is eagerly awaited by the public.
The Salamg Highway serves as a vital link connecting several northern provinces to the capital city of Afghanistan. Thousands of passengers rely on this highway to reach Kabul, making it a crucial route for transportation.
