RASC News Agency: The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan has claimed responsibility for a targeted attack on the Taliban’s security command in Herat, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of four Taliban members. According to the statement, the assault occurred around 4:00 PM yesterday, focusing on the General Directorate of Planning and Operations within the Herat Command. In addition to the fatalities, significant military equipment, including weaponry and a Taliban vehicle, were destroyed in the attack.
So far, the Taliban have not commented on this incident. In recent months, there has been a marked increase in armed and explosive attacks against the Taliban. Groups such as the National Resistance Front and the Freedom Front have launched numerous coordinated operations against Taliban forces across various provinces. Earlier, the Afghanistan Freedom Front announced a multi-pronged attack on Kabul’s military airport on Sunday evening October 20. According to the group, the operation began with the firing of multiple rockets, inflicting severe casualties and material damage on the Taliban.
The Freedom Front’s statement detailed that the operation commenced with targeted rocket fire, causing confusion and panic within the Taliban ranks. This was followed by a ground assault by the group’s urban forces. The attack, lasting approximately ten minutes, reportedly inflicted significant losses on the Taliban in both personnel and military assets. Following the successful completion of the mission, the Freedom Front’s forces withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties.
According to the Freedom Front, in the days preceding the attack, the Taliban had enforced heightened security measures and were in the process of repairing old military aircraft. It is noteworthy that anti-Taliban resistance forces have been increasing their attacks on Taliban positions, particularly in key regions such as Kabul and Herat, as part of a broader effort to challenge Taliban control across Afghanistan.
