RASC News Agency: The Bakhtar News Agency, now under Taliban control, has reported that 195 Afghanistani families were either “forcibly or voluntarily” deported from Iran and Pakistan yesterday Saturday, September 28. According to the report, these families were repatriated via border crossings in the provinces of Nangarhar, Kandahar, Nimroz, and Herat. The Taliban-controlled news outlet stated that 24 families returned through the Torkham crossing, while 17 others crossed via Spin Boldak. Additionally, 46 families re-entered Afghanistan through the Silk Bridge crossing in Nimroz, and a further 108 families returned via the Islam Qala border in Herat.
Afghanistani migrants in Iran and Pakistan have increasingly voiced their grievances about the hardships they face. Many Afghanistani migrants in Iran have told the media that the authorities have denied their children the right to register for school. Moreover, the prosecutor in Kerman has issued orders to local bakeries prohibiting the sale of bread to “illegal residents.” Over the past three years, millions of Afghanistani citizens have fled rampant unemployment, persecution, and the repressive rule of the Taliban, seeking refuge primarily in neighboring countries like Iran and Pakistan.
However, in recent months, the conditions for these migrants have become dire, with hundreds facing daily deportations back to Afghanistan. These forced returns occur despite the dire economic situation and the severe lack of security in Afghanistan, leaving returnees without the prospect of employment or safety.
