Punjabi Sufi Travels to Kabul for a Second Marriage

RASC News Agency: Reports indicate that Najibullah Saifi, a Punjabi Sufi from Pakistan, has journeyed to Kabul for his second marriage. On Thursday, August 15, it was reported that Saifi had forcibly married an Afghanistani woman last year. Sources reveal that Peer Najibullah was raised and educated in Punjab, Pakistan. This “Punjabi Sufi” operates numerous madrasas, khanqahs (Sufi lodges), and mosques, and maintains a significant following of disciples and students across various provinces in Afghanistan, where he spends several months each year.

According to the information, Najibullah enjoys unrestricted access to Taliban administrative offices and is accompanied by a large contingent of bodyguards during his travels to different provinces. It is also noted that Najibullah’s family has a close relationship with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Pakistan’s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) party. Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a prominent cleric and politician in Pakistan, had recently visited Kabul at the Taliban’s invitation, with the approval of the Pakistani government.

The Pakistani government and the Taliban administration in Afghanistan are at odds over the presence and sanctuaries of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants. Islamabad has repeatedly urged the Afghanistani Taliban to curb the TTP’s activities and prevent their organization and attacks. In response, the Taliban have dismissed these claims as unfounded. Reports also indicate that Pakistan has previously conducted airstrikes on locations in Afghanistan targeting TTP militants.
