Three Former Military Personnel Arrested in Takhar

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Takhar province report that Taliban forces have recently arrested three former military personnel on charges of collaborating with the National Resistance Front. On Saturday, August 3, sources informed the media that these three individuals were apprehended by Taliban forces three days ago in the Ahangara district, part of Taloqan city, the provincial capital of Takhar.

According to the sources, the detainees, named Isa, Sadat, and Muqeem, were taken to an undisclosed location following their arrest. The sources further narrate that these individuals had no connections with the National Resistance Front and were leading ordinary lives. Local Taliban authorities in Takhar have yet to comment on this matter. This incident occurs amidst an increasing trend of arrests of former military personnel and civilians by the Taliban in various provinces.

In a recent incident, the Taliban arrested two former military personnel from the Dawlat Shah district in Laghman province, who had recently been deported from Iran and returned to Afghanistan. Despite the Taliban’s declaration of a general amnesty, the group has, over the past three years, arrested, tortured, and, in some cases, killed hundreds of former military personnel across various provinces.

Reports indicate that some former military personnel have died under torture in Taliban prisons, yet the group remains unaccountable for these retaliatory actions.
