RASC News Agency: Some of the families affected by the floods in Ghor province have stated that assistance from Taliban authorities and relief organizations has yet to reach them. Qamar, a resident of one such affected family in Ghor province, informed RASC News Agency on Tuesday, May 14th, that the recent floods in the province have destroyed numerous homes, resulting in the loss of several lives.

She emphasized the necessity for the Taliban and international organizations to prioritize aid to flood-affected families to alleviate public concerns. According to her, if the Taliban and relief organizations fail to collaborate with this segment of society, the problems faced by flood-affected families will only worsen. Meanwhile, Khyber, another flood-affected family in Ghor province, informed RASC that while some cash and in-kind assistance has been provided, the expectations of flood-affected families exceed these efforts.

He stressed that people in Ghor province are in dire straits and require assistance both domestically and internationally. He also pointed out the possibility of recurring floods in Ghor province, which would compound the concerns of these families. However, Bahram Refahi, a knowledgeable figure in western Afghanistan, acknowledges that domestic and international aid for flood-affected families may be hindered by the Taliban.

According to him, the Taliban are accused of misappropriating relief aid and may not deliver essential assistance to flood-affected families. Furthermore, he adds that flood-affected families are in dire need, and concerted efforts are necessary to address their current challenges. He emphasizes the urgent need for a call to action regarding relief efforts for flood-affected families to mitigate existing concerns.

Reports indicate that the Taliban, with assistance received domestically and internationally, are attempting to provide aid to flood victims in the provinces of Baghlan, Ghor, and Herat. It should be noted that the assistance provided to flood-affected families in Baghlan and other western provinces of Afghanistan should also be extended to Ghor province.
