Russian Official Sets Conditions for Taliban Recognition: Inclusive Power Sharing

RASC News Agency: Michael Galozin, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, recently stated that recognizing the Taliban depends on the inclusion of all ethnicities, religions, and political groups in governance. According to a report from RIA Novosti, Galuzin expressed these views on Friday, April 26, in Uzbekistan, emphasizing that an inclusive government in Afghanistan requires representation from all ethnicities, religions, and political factions.

Galuzin remarked, “The issue of recognizing the Taliban hinges upon the establishment of an inclusive government with the participation of all political forces.” Although Moscow does not officially recognize the Taliban, it maintains close relations with the group and has handed control of the Afghanistan embassy in Russia to the Taliban.

At the same time, Russia remains in contact with opposition groups and has organized meetings with them in various countries, including Turkey. Russia has expressed concern over insecurity in northern Afghanistan under Taliban rule and the relocation of terrorist groups in border areas with Central Asia.
