RASC News Agency: UN experts have announced in a new report that the ability of the ISIS group to carry out operations inside Afghanistan has increased.

According to the UN report, the ISIS group currently has at least 5,000 to 7,000 members in its former bases in Iraq and Syria.

United Nations experts stated that the ISIS terrorist group is the biggest threat to the Taliban group in Afghanistan.

In this report, it is stated that according to the United Nations in Afghanistan, ISIS is the most serious threat to the Taliban and the region.

Experts have said in this report that in the first six months of 2023, the threat of ISIS has increased in war zones.

According to this report, the risk of remobilization of ISIS members is a deep issue, because this group has adopted a solution based on compromise with local people.

Last week, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated in his 17th report about ISIS’s threat to international peace and security: “The member states of the Security Council consider ISIS to be the most serious terrorist threat in Afghanistan and the region.”

He said: “Reports indicate that the ability of the ISIS group to operate inside Afghanistan has increased, and fighters and their family members are estimated to be between 4,000 and 6,000 people.”

This is despite the fact that the countries of the region have repeatedly expressed concern about the revival of terrorist groups, including ISIS, in Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban group.

At the same time, due to several operations carried out inside Afghanistan against the forces of the Taliban group by the ISIS group, it is claimed that this group is unable to contain the terrorist groups in Afghanistan.
