RASC News Agency: More than two years have elapsed since the closure of educational institutions for girls; however, the spokesperson for the Taliban group recently declared that their ongoing efforts aim to reopen schools and universities across the country. Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban group’s spokesperson, addressed this issue with the media, emphasizing their active work towards reopening educational facilities for girls. While Mujahid did not offer a precise explanation regarding the education of girls, he mentioned that the Taliban group considers the wishes of the Afghanistani people.
Mujahid stated, “We are aware that efforts are still underway, but we cannot disclose specific details about the progress made. This matter falls under the jurisdiction of the ministries, and if there are any advancements or steps taken, the ministries themselves will inform the media.” It is crucial to note that upon seizing control of the country, the Taliban group initially barred girls above the sixth grade from attending school and subsequently closed universities to girls nationwide. They also shuttered other educational centers, including English language centers where girls studied in specific provinces, issuing warnings to officials not to permit girls’ entry into these establishments.
The actions taken by the Taliban group concerning the education of Afghanistani girls have elicited widespread domestic and international reactions. International authorities and institutions have consistently urged the group to lift this ban, yet the Taliban have persisted in their actions without providing any valid reasons for their decision.
