RASC News Agency: Shahzadeh Igual, an Iranian writer based in Turkey, asserts that Persian is sweeter and more captivating than Turkish and many other global languages. She remarked, “Persian is one of the most melodious languages in the world. This is not just my personal bias as an Iranian who naturally cherishes my mother tongue people from around the world find Persian fascinating. It’s a language they enjoy listening to, one that flows like music.”
Igual emphasized that foreign writers often describe Persian as innately poetic. According to her, linguists and researchers who have studied Persian believe that even its simplest sentences possess a poetic essence. “I’ve heard people from various countries say that Persian sounds like poetry. They think we are constantly reciting verses when we speak,” she added. The Iranian media outlet Vayner reported that Shahzadeh Eghbal, born in Tehran and now residing in Turkey, is fully fluent in Persian. However, she primarily writes fiction and novels in Turkish. She has published four books in collaboration with leading Turkish publishers.
Although none of her works had previously been published in Persian, last month, her third novel, The K’s of Isfahan, was released in Iran through Honar Publications, translated by Nazli Elmi. Igual also revealed that she is actively promoting Persian literature and culture in Turkey through a modern adaptation of traditional Persian storytelling. Previously, a Polish scholar had similarly praised Persian as “an exceptionally unique language.” He stated that he had written in Persian, found it more melodious than widely spoken languages in Poland, and deeply admired its richness.
Persian remains a widely spoken and culturally significant language in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, continuing to serve as a pillar of literary heritage in the region.
