RASC News Agency: Hamid Karzai, the ex-president of Afghanistan, emphasized the significance of education for the advancement of Afghanistan and urged the Taliban to grant Afghanistani girls access to education promptly. On the occasion of World Education Day, Mr. Karzai conveyed these sentiments on Wednesday, January 24th, and reiterated his call for the reopening of schools and universities for girls. In the X social media platform post, he underscored the pivotal role of education in a nation’s progress, prosperity, and dignity, expressing his hope for the swift reopening of educational institutions for girls in Afghanistan.
Mr. Karzai expressed optimism that the reintegration of girls into schools and universities would empower the youth of Afghanistan to attain profound knowledge and liberate the country from external dependencies, propelling it towards genuine progress and freedom. Directly addressing the Taliban officials, he appealed to them once again to prioritize the education of Afghanistani girls, particularly on the occasion of Education Day.
Since the Taliban assumed control of the country, they have imposed a ban on girls above the sixth grade attending school and have barred their entry into universities. Despite repeated pleas from Hamid Karzai and both internal and external pressures, the Taliban has exhibited no flexibility in lifting these restrictions.
