RASC News Agency: Reports indicate that the Taliban have killed a young Afghanistani man inside the Iranian consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif while he was attempting to secure a visa. According to sources, 18-year-old Ataullah was brutally beaten by Taliban forces at the consulate, ultimately succumbing to his injuries. Witnesses claim that he was whipped repeatedly, leading to fatal injuries. Local sources in Mazar-i-Sharif report that the incident took place on the morning of Saturday, March 8, when Taliban forces violently assaulted visa applicants inside the consulate.
Another source revealed that Ataullah, a resident of Almar district in Faryab province, suffered severe kidney damage from the lashings and died after being transferred to a hospital. The source further noted that five other individuals sustained injuries during the attack. This incident is part of a disturbing pattern just last week, Taliban forces brutally assaulted a 20-year-old man seeking a passport at the Kabul Passport Directorate, leaving him hospitalized.
These developments come amid a surge in Afghanistani youth fleeing the country following the Taliban’s return to power. Widespread economic collapse and deepening poverty have forced thousands to seek opportunities abroad, particularly in neighboring Iran and Pakistan. However, hundreds of Afghanistani migrants are being deported daily from Iran and Pakistan. While many young men venture abroad in search of lawful employment, others flee in fear of Taliban persecution, seeking safety and a future beyond Afghanistan’s borders.
