RASC News Agency: The Afghanistan Freedom Front has claimed responsibility for a recent attack on a Taliban checkpoint in Kabul. According to a statement released by the Freedom Front on the social network X, the attack took place at approximately 7:50 PM on Monday, May 20, in the “Siah Sang Karteh Now” area within the Eighth Security District of Kabul.
The statement from the Freedom Front details that their forces targeted members of the Taliban’s Ministry of Defense reconnaissance unit, resulting in the deaths of two Taliban members and the injury of another. The statement also notes that the Taliban typically establish checkpoints in the Chaman-e-Hozori and Karteh Now areas of Kabul on Mondays and Thursdays, where they have been reported to harass and intimidate locals.
Four days earlier, the Afghanistan Freedom Front also claimed responsibility for an attack on the security detail of Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban, in Kabul. This previous attack occurred last Friday night near the Shah Do Shamshira Mosque in Kabul, resulting in the deaths of three of Hibatullah’s guards and the injury of another.
