Afghanistan Liberation Front Declares Temporary Ceasefire Against the Taliban in Honor of Ramadan

RASC News Agency: The Afghanistan Liberation Front has announced a temporary suspension of its military operations against the Taliban in observance of the holy month of Ramadan, extending the ceasefire until the third day of Eid. In an official statement, the group emphasized that this pause in hostilities is both unilateral and conditional, undertaken as a mark of respect for the sanctity of Ramadan. However, the statement makes it clear that the suspension will remain in effect only if its members, bases, and positions are not targeted or subjected to direct threats.

The statement further asserts:

“Our intelligence networks will remain fully alert and closely monitor the situation. Should we witness any actions that violate Islamic and humanitarian principles such as harassment, violent treatment of civilians, particularly women, or mistreatment of vulnerable groups appropriate countermeasures will be taken in accordance with the location, timing, and scale of such transgressions.”

The Liberation Front has also warned that any attack against its forces will lead to an immediate resumption of military operations. As of now, the Taliban has not issued a response to this declaration. Historically, the group has avoided publicly addressing military threats or announcements from opposition factions, including the Afghanistan Liberation Front and the National Resistance Front.

The Afghanistan Liberation Front is among the leading armed resistance movements opposing Taliban rule. Since the Taliban’s return to power, the group has launched a series of attacks against Taliban strongholds. In recent months, it has claimed responsibility for numerous high-profile operations across multiple provinces.
