RASC News Agency: Sources from Panjshir province report that, in a continuation of the Taliban’s discriminatory practices, 20 local members of the group have recently been dismissed from their positions by the Taliban in this region. According to these sources, speaking to the media on Monday, August 12, the dismissed individuals were associated with Mawlawi Qudratullah Amini, the former governor of Panjshir and the current Taliban-appointed governor of Parwan province. Over the past two years, these individuals had been integrated into the ranks of the Taliban police force.
The sources indicate that the Taliban have demanded their local members register their weapons. However, it has been reported that some of these individuals do not possess any weapons. Due to a deep-seated mistrust, the Taliban have withheld weapons from some of their local members in Panjshir, leading to a situation where most of the Taliban police force in the province consists of residents of Panjshir.
The sources further reveal that the Taliban have informed their local members that those with “Delgai” approval must possess a weapon and register it. If they do not have a weapon, it implies that they did not genuinely fight within the group’s ranks, and their approval is fraudulent. This is not the first instance of such actions by the Taliban; previously, the group had dismissed several local members in Panjshir.
The Taliban’s experience with armed resistance in Panjshir has fostered pervasive mistrust of their local members in the province. One notable example is Commander Malik, a Tajik leader in Panjshir who initially collaborated with the Taliban but later turned against them. In the summer of 2022, the Taliban killed him and his forces.
