RASC News Agency: Four individuals lost their lives, and six others sustained injuries in a recent traffic incident in Herat province, as reported by health sources. The incident occurred on the evening of Friday, December 15th, along the Herat-Kandahar highway in the Adrascan vicinity. Reports indicate that a collision between a “Paso”-type car and a “Fielder” resulted in the fatalities and injuries of ten individuals. Among the victims are two children, whose conditions are reported to be critical, according to sources from Herat province hospital.

The Taliban group in Herat province has not provided any statement regarding the matter. It is noteworthy that traffic incidents have previously claimed lives in various provinces across the country. Recently, there has been a significant increase in the number of traffic incidents, particularly in Herat province, resulting in the deaths and injuries of numerous individuals, including children and women. Factors contributing to these incidents include driver negligence, failure to adhere to traffic regulations, excessive speeding, road damage, a lack of standards, and various other reasons.

Furthermore, it is crucial to acknowledge that decades of conflict and the authorities’ lack of focus on infrastructure development, along with the challenging nature of certain routes and drivers’ unfamiliarity with them, pose additional challenges contributing to traffic incidents from time to time. Efforts should be made to address these issues and prioritize road safety to prevent further loss of life and injuries on the roads.
