RASC News Agency: According to reports, Abdulbari Omar, the head of the Food and Agriculture Department of the Taliban, recently traveled to Germany from the Netherlands, where he had attended a global conference on local production. During his visit, Omar addressed a group of Afghanistani in the city of Cologne. Abdulbari Omar, previously serving as the Minister of Health for the Taliban following their takeover in 2021, now holds a prominent role in Afghanistan’s Food and Agriculture Department.
The Taliban official himself shared a video of the event, accompanied by a Taliban song, which depicted him engaging in friendly conversations with attendees. Some participants even took pictures with him. Throughout the gathering, chants of “Allahu Akbar” and “Long Live the Islamic Emirate” resonated, although the three-color Afghanistan flag was visible on the hall’s wall.
During the event, a speaker representing the organizers stated that Abdulbari Omar had expressed the desire for a meeting and discussion with the people during his interaction with the “Kunar Cultural Association.” As a result, the association facilitated the arrangement. During their daily press conference on Friday, November 17th, spokespersons from the German Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior addressed the matter after a question from a Deutsche Welle reporter.
Christian Wagner, spokesperson for the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated, “You are aware of our position towards the Taliban regime; we do not have any official cooperation with them.” Furthermore, German authorities have reportedly indicated that if investigations determine that certain Afghanistani intentionally organized this gathering, appropriate measures will be taken to expel them from Germany.
