RASC News Agency: According to a report announced on November 16th, yet another female protester has been arrested by the Taliban group in Afghanistan. The woman, identified as Parisa Azada, was a member of the Afghanistan Women’s Movement for Justice and Freedom. She had been actively participating in protests advocating for the release of women activists held by the Taliban. Sources reveal that Azada was apprehended on Wednesday, November 15th, by the Taliban while attempting to print protest slogans at a local printing house in Kabul city. Since then, she has been transferred to an undisclosed location.
The arrest of Parisa Azada adds to a series of similar incidents in which women’s rights activists have been detained by the Taliban group across various provinces in Afghanistan. This is not a new phenomenon, as the Taliban consistently targets and takes measures against women who voice their dissent. In the past two months alone, the Taliban has arrested four women, including Azada, Manizha Sediqi, Zhulia Parsi with her son, and Nida Parwani with her four-year-old child and husband. The group has yet to comment on this latest arrest, which raises concerns about the fate of these women.
Reports received from the RASC News Agency shed light on the extent of the Taliban’s mistreatment of women protestors and civil activists in their custody. These actions include degrading acts such as urinating on the faces of the detainees and subjecting them to severe insults. Since coming to power in Afghanistan, the Taliban has employed various tactics to suppress and silence women and young protestors. These tactics include arrests, torture, imprisonment, and even killings. It is imperative for the international community to take note of these grave human rights violations and work towards ensuring the safety and freedom of Afghanistani women.
