RASC News Agency: In Herat province, the Taliban group has once again imposed severe restrictions on women and girls by shutting down several girls’ Educational centers. Local sources have reported that armed individuals affiliated with the Taliban forcibly entered these Educational centers and closed their gates on November 14th. The Taliban had previously warned the officials of the Educational centers regarding this issue. The group stated that male teachers were not allowed to teach girls, and any defiance of this order would result in severe punishment.
This incident is not an isolated one, as the Taliban has a history of targeting educational institutions that provide education to girls. In Ghazni province, they closed down a private school simply because it admitted female students. Since taking control of the government in Afghanistan, the Taliban has systematically denied girls the right to education. Initially, they prevented girls from attending universities and restricted access to education for girls above the sixth grade. This oppressive policy has had devastating consequences, with many girls suffering from mental distress and even attempting suicide.
It is imperative to underscore that Afghanistan remains the only country in the world where girls are denied the basic right to education. The actions of the Taliban in shutting down girls’ Educational centers and preventing girls from attending school or university are clear violations of human rights. The Taliban group faced condemnation from the international community for their actions, with provisions that they could only receive international legitimacy if they lifted the prohibitions on Afghanistani citizens, particularly females. However, the group remained inflexible and showed no willingness to comply.
