RASC News Agency: Continuing its efforts to provide assistance to impoverished families across various provinces, the food program has announced the distribution of essential food items to over 4,000 needy families in Ghor province on November 6th.
The Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, under the Taliban group, confirmed that the aid was made possible through the World Food Program (WFP) in Firouz Koh district, the province’s center. The donated materials consist of flour, oil, lentils, salt, and nutritional supplements for children. However, despite receiving these aids, families express that their economic challenges remain unresolved, emphasizing the need for aid agencies to provide employment opportunities.
In response to the growing poverty and unemployment rates in the country, the World Food Program and other international organizations continue to distribute both monetary and food assistance to needy households in different provinces of Afghanistan.
Reports from the World Food and Agriculture Program of the United Nations highlight that Afghanistan is among the eight countries worldwide facing severe poverty. The domination of the Taliban group in Afghanistan, coupled with the reduction in international aid, has led to an unprecedented increase in poverty and destitution among citizens.
While the distribution of food items is crucial in addressing immediate hunger, it is evident that a more comprehensive approach is required to tackle the underlying economic challenges faced by these families. The provision of work opportunities alongside aid assistance would enable individuals to regain their financial independence and improve their overall well-being. Efforts should be made to address the root causes of poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan, ensuring that aid programs are not only focused on short-term relief but also on long-term sustainable solutions.
