RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s Director of Education in Bamyan province has announced the collection of Jafari jurisprudence textbooks from schools where both Hanafi and Jafari jurisprudence are taught. In a letter released to the media on Thursday, June 6, Enayatullah Sahar stated that new textbooks encompassing both Hanafi and Jafari jurisprudence will be prepared and distributed.
This official letter, signed by Enayatullah Sahar, the Taliban’s Director of Education for Bamyan, has been sent to the education departments of Bamyan’s seven districts. However, it remains unclear which specific jurisprudence textbooks are to be collected from the schools. Meanwhile, sources in Bamyan report that the collection of Jafari jurisprudence textbooks has already begun in recent days.
Since taking control of the country, the Taliban have banned the teaching of Jafari jurisprudence in universities and higher education institutions. Over the past three years, the Shia Ulema Council has consistently advocated for the resumption of Jafari jurisprudence education in academic and higher education institutions as one of their primary demands from the Taliban.
In response, the Taliban’s Ministry of Higher Education rejected the Shia Ulema Council of Afghanistan’s request to include Jafari jurisprudence in the educational curriculum in April 2023.
