RASC News Agency: The escalating expulsion of undocumented Afghanistani immigrants and asylum seekers from Pakistan has recently taken a positive turn. The government of Pakistan has announced that Afghanistani asylum seekers, who are awaiting evacuation to America, will not be expelled from the country.
According to a report published by “MBTV” on Sunday, November 5th, the government of Pakistan has instructed authorities not to detain these asylum seekers. This decision grants a respite to the 1,150 Afghanistani refugees currently awaiting humanitarian visas from the United States, allowing them to stay in Pakistan.
In a letter dated November 3rd, the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Pakistan stated that the American Embassy has confirmed its support for the relocation and resettlement of 1,150 Afghanistani citizens to the United States.
Consequently, Pakistani authorities have been directed to abstain from arresting individuals on this list and to permit them to remain in the country until further notice. This decision comes after the US State Department urged Pakistan not to expel Afghanistani citizens who are awaiting resettlement in America.
It is crucial to note that Afghanistani citizens residing in Pakistan, while expecting visas from Western countries, have been at risk of forced deportation as their visas expire. This has been highlighted as a concern by a human rights watchdog.
Moreover, with the Taliban regaining control of Afghanistan, individuals who have been working with international organizations to resettle in Western countries find themselves in uncertain circumstances. This situation underscores the importance of international support and cooperation to ensure the safety and well-being of Afghanistani asylum seekers and refugees.
