The Taliban Group Does Not Allow the Family of Matiullah Wisa to Visit

RASC: Matiullah Wisa’s family says that two months after the arrest of this girl’s education activist, the Taliban group does not allow them to meet him.

Atiullah Wisa, the brother of Motiullah Wisa, says that in addition to not allowing him to visit, the Taliban group also prevented Mr. Wisa from hiring a legal advisor.

In the first week of April, the Taliban group arrested Matiullah Wisa, an activist for girls’ education and the head of the Rah Qalam Foundation.

Two days after the publication of this news, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson of the Taliban group, said: “The intelligence of this group has imprisoned Mr. Wisa for “arbitrary activities and encouraging people to engage in anti-government activities.”

Human rights organizations have repeatedly said that the defendants in the Taliban regime do not have access to the process of providing justice, legal counsel and a fair trial.

In the past years, Mr. Wisa has worked to expand and promote the education of girls and spread awareness in the remote villages of Afghanistan.

He has set up classrooms and mobile libraries for children in a number of provinces.

With the prohibition of girls’ education by the Taliban group, Mr. Wisa concentrated his educational activities in this sector.

A number of international organizations and human rights activists have demanded the release of Matiullah Wisa, but the Taliban group has not yet released him.
