RASC News Agency: In the wake of the recent spate of female suicides witnessed across various provinces in the nation, the Faryab province has been rattled by the suicide of a 25-year-old woman in the Pashtunkot district. As per an official statement released by the Taliban security command in Faryab, the woman, known as Kamila, tragically took her own life on Sunday, October 22, by hanging herself in the village of Hazarsum. Kamila is said to have fallen victim to the scourge of family conflicts, ultimately succumbing to an untimely demise.
Adding to the gravity of the situation, the spouse of the deceased woman has been apprehended and is presently undergoing investigation by the Taliban group. This development emerges amidst a deeply alarming surge in the number of female suicides across various provinces in the country, with many women forced to desperate measures due to domestic violence, often inflicted by their own husbands. Sadly, only a week ago, another young woman in the Garziwan district of this province also took her own life, driven by a bitter family dispute.
Moreover, a devastating incident unfolded nearly two weeks ago in Mazar-e-Sharif city’s fourth district, where a woman ended her own life as a desperate escape from the relentless violence inflicted upon her by her husband. This heart-rending act occurred while she was caring for her three young children.
It is imperative to acknowledge that poverty, unemployment, mental health challenges, domestic violence, and early marriages are widely recognized by experts as significant factors contributing to the distressingly prevalent phenomenon of female suicide.
