Passport issuance process starts offline

RASC News Agency: The passport department officials of the Taliban group have recently announced their plans to introduce an innovative method for passport dispatch, offline, by utilizing a white petition. Noorullah Patman, the spokesperson for the General Directorate of Passports of the Taliban group, emphasized their objective of enhancing citizen access to passports. In the near future, they aim to provide the option of obtaining passports offline through a white petition.

Moreover, the General Directorate of Passports of the Taliban group had previously announced the establishment of three passport distribution centers in Kabul province. The department spokesperson assured that the construction of these centers will be completed soon. This development comes in response to the surge in passport applications observed across various provinces of the country since the Taliban assumed control two years ago.

It is worth noting that passport distribution in different provinces has been sporadically halted since the Taliban took power, citing technical issues as the cause, as claimed by the group officials. Currently, the process of obtaining passports across the country is primarily conducted online. However, some citizens have reported experiencing excessive delays and a time-consuming approach.

Additionally, it is noteworthy that recent reports indicate a significant backlog of passport applications, resulting in the emergence of a black market where passports are bought and sold at exorbitant prices.

Furthermore, it is important to highlight the prevailing political turmoil in the country, with the Taliban in control, leading to widespread chaos and uncertainty. Consequently, a substantial number of families are seeking passports in order to leave the country due to various reasons, including fear of the aforementioned group.
