RASC News Agency: According to sources in Balkh, it has recently been reported that the Taliban group has implemented new measures to further restrict the rights and freedoms of women and girls. One notable action taken by the Taliban was the closure of the “Khadija Al-Kubra” commercial market in Balkh, which was specifically established to cater to the needs of women in the province. not only did the Taliban seal off the market, but they also prohibited women from working there. The alleged reason behind the closure was reportedly due to outstanding tax debts. However, some businesswomen argue that the Taliban should have considered the past debts of individuals before taking such drastic actions.
As if the closure of the women’s market in Balkh wasn’t enough, the Taliban group has also targeted women’s tailoring shops in the province of Herat. These recent actions are just a part of a series of oppressive measures enforced by the Taliban, primarily aimed at marginalizing and suppressing women and girls in Afghanistan. Since their ascent to power, the Taliban has consistently tightened their control and stripped away the rights of women, causing significant negative consequences.
