Mr. Sayeq disclosed this sobering information during a press conference held on the afternoon of Monday, October 9. However, specific figures in terms of fatalities and injuries were not provided. Additionally, he highlighted the tragic destruction of approximately 2,000 homes across 20 villages, underscoring the extent of the devastation caused by the earthquake.

Simultaneously, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) initially reported a death toll of 1,023 people, with an additional 1,663 individuals suffering injuries and 516 people unaccounted for in the affected regions.
