RASC News Agency: Following the apprehension of Sultan Ali Javadi, the manager of Radio Nasim, and two of its journalists, Saifullah Rezaei and Mojtaba Qasemi, by the Taliban, the NAI Institute, a staunch supporter of Afghanistan’s free media, has urged for their immediate release from the Taliban’s prison in Daikundi province.

On October 8th, the NAI Institute issued a statement decrying the recapture of Radio Nasim employees and the suspension of the radio’s broadcasts by the Taliban as a deliberate attempt to further curtail the activities of free media in Afghanistan.

The statement from the NAI Institute explicitly demands that the Taliban promptly release the detained Radio Nasim employees and allow the radio station to resume its broadcasting.

It is worth mentioning that the intelligence forces of the Taliban apprehended the manager and two journalists of Nasim Radio in Daikundi province, subsequently leading to the shutdown of the media outlet.

Furthermore, it is pertinent to mention that the Taliban had previously captured the employees of this media organization and imprisoned them once again after a brief period of release.

Local sources from the province have reported that the Taliban recently confiscated the equipment of Radio Aftab and local TV Sabzaha in Daikundi province.

These actions are transpiring despite the fact that media restrictions and limitations on journalism have significantly intensified under the Taliban’s control of Afghanistan. The group has frequently detained journalists and halted media activities in various provinces under various pretexts.

As per reports, the Taliban authorities in various provinces have instructed media outlets to refrain from publishing news that opposes the Taliban and have issued several orders prohibiting the broadcasting of entertainment and music programs.
