RASC News Agency: The Taliban Supreme Court announced via a newsletter that it has subjected eight individuals in Herat Province to whipping on charges of “adultery and dishonor.” According to a newsletter released by the Taliban Supreme Court, made public on Thursday, February 29th, the accused individuals received the punishment in accordance with the verdict of the group’s military court.
The Taliban court’s newsletter stated that the “crime” of these eight individuals was “adultery and dishonor,” and the court sentenced them to five months in prison and 20 lashes. The Taliban Supreme Court has not disclosed further details about the identities of these eight individuals, although the Taliban executed three individuals publicly in the past week.
On the preceding Thursday, the group executed two individuals accused of murder in the public square of Ghazni city. Just this Monday, they carried out the sentence of another murder suspect in Jowzjan Province, following the order of Mullah Hibatullah. The Taliban’s actions have triggered widespread reactions from domestic and international authorities and organizations. UNAMA had previously urged the group to cease public executions.
