RASC News Agency: The arrest of Zhulia Parsi, the leader of the “Spontaneous Movement of Afghanistani Women Protesters” and Nida Parwani, a member of this movement, by the Taliban group has caused many reactions and the UN special rapporteur has demanded their immediate release.
Mary Lawler, the United Nations special rapporteur on human rights defenders, published a message on X social network on Thursday, September 28, calling for the immediate release of these protesters arrested by the Taliban group.
She added that the news of the arrest of Zhulia Parsi and her son by the Taliban group in Afghanistan following the arrest of Nida Parwani, her colleague, while their whereabouts are unknown, is disturbing.
She requested: “The current authorities should immediately release them safely.”
Earlier, the sources had told the media that Taliban fighters arrested Zhulia Parsi, the leader of the “Spontaneous Women’s Protest Movement of Afghanistan” and her son from her house located in the “Qala-e- Fatullah” area of Kabul city on Wednesday, September 27.
Meanwhile, a week ago, members of the Taliban group arrested Nida Parwani, a member of this movement, along with her son in Kabul city.
So far, there is no information about the fate of these protesting women, and the Taliban group has not commented on this matter.
On the other hand, a number of protesting women in Afghanistan have said that the world is silent against these actions of the Taliban group in response to the increase in the arrests of protesting women and women’s rights activists by the Taliban group.
In response to the arrest of Zhulia Parsi, the leader of the “Spontaneous Movement of Afghanistani Women’s Protesters”, these women have asked the international community to take practical measures to free her from the custody of the Taliban group.
